Each one of our instructors has years of experience both as an educator but more importantly, as a performer. The skills they have mastered from their years of experience combined with their passion for helping others achieve their musical goals while having fun are what set them high above the rest. This unique combination is not easy to find but is vital to our success.
Ryan Van Tuyl - BassRyan Van Tuyl began his musical career in 8th grade when he purchased his first bass guitar and joined his friend's punk band. After several years of study Ryan began to branch out musically, learning guitar, piano and drums; leading to him becoming a successful music director for various churches in Orange County. Upon returning from a musical hiatus, Ryan began studying with some of the most highly sought after bassists in the LA music scene, earning an Associates Degree through the Bass Institute of Technology at Musicians Institute. As an educator, he started teaching music in 2001, developing a unique teaching method that helps students learn advanced music theory concepts through the use of 20th Century Rock, Jazz, and Popular Music. He has instructed well over 500 students in Los Angeles and Orange county in the last 10 years, guiding several students from their first ever music lesson through their high school graduation. In his tenure, many of his students have been accepted on scholarship to prestigious music programs all over the country. In addition to RockStars, Ryan is also a staff instructor with the Commercial Recording Arts Department of the Academy of Performing Arts in Huntington Beach, Ca. Using music, Ryan prides himself on instilling in his students the musical and life skills necessary to be successful in whatever field they desire.
